Privacy notice

Who we are

Intense Boxing is run by INTENSE ABC CIC (company number 16194295), Unit 9, The Old Printworks, 21 Burrington Way, Plymouth PL5 3LR. INTENSE ABC CIC is the data controller for the information on this form.

What we keep

The details on this form: name, date of birth, address, contact details, parent/guardian and emergency contacts, health information, boxing experience, the classes you are interested in, your permission choices, and your typed signature with the date and time you signed. We do not record your IP address.

Why we keep it

To run your (or your child’s) membership, to contact you about sessions, to keep members safe in training and in an emergency, and to keep a record of the agreements and permissions given. Health information is used only to keep you safe, and only with your explicit consent.

Who sees it

Marlee Dann and the club coaches and officials who need it to run sessions safely, including our child welfare officer for juniors. It is stored securely by Cloudflare, the company that hosts our website, in a password-protected database. We only share it when we need to – for example with emergency services in an emergency, or with England Boxing or insurers if it is needed for registration, competition or an incident – or when the law requires it. We never sell your data and we do not pass it to sponsors.

How long we keep it

While you (or your child) are a member, and for 3 years after you last train with us, so that we can welcome you back if you return. We may keep some records longer where we need to, for example an accident or safeguarding record.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or withdraw a permission (such as photos or club updates) at any time. Email [email protected] or message 07939 583972 on WhatsApp. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Acknowledgement of Risk and Participation Agreement

The risks of boxing

Boxing is a dangerous contact sport. By entering the gym and taking part, you do so entirely at your own risk.

Boxing means being punched, including to the head. Injuries can and do happen in training, sparring and competition, even when everyone is careful. The risks include:

  • broken noses, eye sockets, jaws, cheekbones and teeth
  • cuts, heavy bleeding and swelling
  • broken hands, wrists and ribs
  • concussion
  • bleeding on the brain and other brain injuries, which can cause permanent damage
  • in rare cases, life-changing injury or death

These risks are real and are part of the sport. Protective kit and good coaching reduce them but cannot remove them.

By ticking below I confirm that:

  1. I accept the risks. I understand and expressly accept the inherent risks of boxing, including the risk of injury. This covers training, and sparring or competition if I (or my child) go on to do them with a coach’s agreement. Injuries can happen even when everyone is careful.
  2. I am fit to train. I confirm that, to the best of my knowledge, I am (or my child is) fit and well enough to take part. If I am unsure, I will get advice from a GP before training.
  3. I have told the club about my health. The medical information I have given on this form is true and complete, and I have not left out any medical condition, injury or medication (mine or my child’s). I will tell a coach straight away about any change – a new medical condition, injury, medication, pregnancy or a knock to the head – and before any session where I (or my child) feel unwell or injured.
  4. I will follow the coaches and the club rules. I will follow the coaches’ instructions, the club rules and the club’s safeguarding code, wear the protective kit the coaches ask for, and only spar when a coach says so. I accept that a coach can stop me (or my child) training, or ask me (or my child) to leave a session, for safety or behaviour reasons.
  5. I will train within my limits. I will tell a coach if I am in pain, dizzy or struggling, and stop when I am asked to.
  6. Liability. As far as the law allows, Intense Boxing (INTENSE ABC CIC), its coaches and volunteers are not liable for any injury, loss or damage that is not caused by the club’s negligence.

This agreement records that the risks have been explained to you and that you accept them. Nothing in this form affects any rights you have by law.
