Why partners fund us

Clear legal form. Youth-majority timetable. Low cost barriers. A world-class facility that paid professionals use to improve with their own coaches — while local beginners train in the same gym on the club timetable. JEM Scaffolding has been our principal sponsor for many years; Lewis Scaffolding Services, JAM Nationwide Auto Recoveries and James & Sons Building Services are secondary partners; TK Building supports at a smaller tier.

Evidence of community mission

Founded in 2011 and covered by Plymouth Live. We have a track record of opening the doors wider when the city needs it, including free women's confidence and self-defence classes in 2021.

How we fit Plymouth's plans

Plymouth City Council and partners share a goal for Plymouth to be the most physically active coastal city in England by 2034 (the Active to Thrive plan), and in November 2025 Plymouth became a Sport England Place Partnership with Active Devon, focused on children and young people in the least active communities, including young people with additional needs and experience of trauma. A low-cost, youth-majority community boxing club in Honicknowle is exactly the kind of local partner that ambition needs. (We describe alignment here, not a funded partnership.)

The bigger ambition (labelled as vision)

Our landlord intends to sell the gym building. We want to bring it into community ownership through the CIC and/or a linked charity, then grow a South West sports hub and stronger pathways for young people who struggle in mainstream settings. Read Our vision and The building & capital appeal. Nothing on those pages is a claim of a service we already run.

Safeguarding

England Boxing safeguarding policies; fully DBS-checked coaches; Club Welfare Officer David Jeffery; parents may stay for the first 1–2 sessions only (longer stays require a full England Boxing DBS).
